Event Description

Co-owner Jim Shea teams up with Michael Nordstrom of Garamania to curate GARAMANIACAL, an homage to the clunky, crusty, fish-lipped, oil-belching, high-rise-wrecking meteorite monster Garamon and his “recycled” alter ego, the friendly and excitable Pygmon.  GARAMANIACAL will look at kaiju culture through the lens of these two iconic creatures, presenting information on the characters, the TV shows on which they first appeared, and the visionary artists who created them.  As well, the gallery will be filled with an amazing assortment of contemporary art and toys inspired by Garamon and Pygmon

Artists include:

Astromonster/Alex Wald, Bill Nordstrom, PLASEEBO/Bob CongeBob Eggleton, CUPCO/Luke Temby, Dave Dopko, Gargamel, Greasebat/Jeff Lamm, Grody Shogun/Luke Rook, hellopike/Phil Staszkiw, Isabel Samaras, Jason Edmiston, Jim Groman, Josh Herbolsheimer, Cometdebris/Koji Harmon, hi guys!/Lauren Stutzman, Leecifer/Lee Gadja, Mark Dabelstein, Mark Nagata, Matt Sesow, Miles Nielsen, Monster Worship, Mutant Vinyl Hardcore/Rich Montanari Jr. , Paddy Charles, Paul Kaiju, Jacquelyn Heloise, Prometheum5/Ben Mininberg, Ralph Cosentino, Robert DeCastro, Steve Seeley, Gorilla Mouth/Troy Stith, zapatoloco/Benoit Robitaille, Brian Mahony/Guumon, Walter Parenton, Toybot Studios/Kirkland Jue, Michael Skattum and more.

Coloring Contest

FOE and Garamania both feel strongly about community engagement.  So as part of this show we’ll be running an event to raise money for MSPCC.  MSPCC has an office in Holyoke and offers direct services to more than 4,700 children and their families in communities throughout Western Massachusetts each year.  Have fun, get entered in a drawing for awesome toys, and support a great organization.  Go to Garamania for full details and enter now!

Really wish I could make in for what I feel will be a smashing show !

Here are some picts of my custom and the backstory.

"The Skulloctopus from outer space reanimates Garamon" or "Skullo pulls a Frankenstein"

The Skulloctopus had communicated with Garamon many years ago when the orbit of Garamons meteorite passed close to Mars.
When the Skulloctopus arrived on Earth in 2009 he also landed in Japan, as he had the coordinates of the Garamon meteorite landing site.

He first located the long forgotten strange metal rock, still covered with the mesh, in the basement storage room of the old science lab. The following night the Skulloctopus broke into the cryogenic facility where the scientists had stored the body of Garamon and installed the metal controller rock in the back of Garamons head next to his brain. Within minutes of completing the connections, Garamon eyes opened and his head and chest began to glow with the pulse of life once more. This time in control of his own destiny.

On moonlit nights the Skulloctopus and its giant friend can be seen roaming the country side in search of ?

There's a lot going on with that figure, so the limited color really does it well.  You're painting looks great too!

Can't wait to start seeing more takes on these characters, sure they'll be coming soon.  Walter the IV contributed an awesome logo for the show.
