Monster Kolor Application Instructions

1. Wipe figure down 2-3 times with 70% rubbing alcohol THROUGHLY ! (even in the hard to reach areas)

2 Pour color directly into airbrush..For brighter color application shake up & spray white base as your first coat and then layer your colors on top of the white.

3. Layer your colors in sequence from light to dark. Example : White,Yellow,Orange,Blue, Purple, etc
Color can be poured back into bottle to eliminate waste

4. After Colors are applied now you can add specialty paints direct over paints. Example : Pearls,Flakes, etc

Note : the colors will appear dull in appearence up to this point. Dont worry this is correct.

5. Once all paint is applied, warm over figure with blow dryer to dry up any remaining areas in preperation for clear coating.

6. Clear Coat : Use in a well ventilated area! Must use an OSHA approved respirator while spraying. This is a 2 component system. It is mixed 2:1 ( 2 parts clear 1 part activator) . Mix small amount with mixing cup provided. For micro mixture please mix 1 part clear ½ part activator.

Usually, 1 coat of clear is all that’s required for the desired gloss level. If you chose to do 2 coats please allow 15 minutes wait time before 2nd coat of clear application.

7. Place figure in a dust free environment at 60 degrees or warmer for 24 hours to cure.

8. If your going to store Monster Kolor for a long period of time between uses I recommend placing the cap plugs back into the bottles to avoid air getting into the bottle and possibly evaporating the solvents out of the paint.

You guys are all mad scientists...and I'd love to be in all your shops as you discover weird MK combos that work! Walker i like Newton...coming up with the fundamental principles all us engineers use everyday to go to the moon! ;)
I ordered the lulubell exclusive pack, but the clear coat activator had turned to hard gel.  I've been adding thinner to the top (very little room), but it's slow going and seems like there are still chunks.  Has anyone encountered this?  Will it eventually turn back to normal if I get enough thinner inside?
Seems like some air got into it and caused it to gel. I will send you out a new activator asap. Thanks !

Thanks! I love this clear coat!

I've been using alclad airbrush cleaner to thin my MK and no matter how thin is is, it sprays like a dream!  Even if it's thinned 1000+%, it doesn't run and dries fast.  What brand of thinner is everyone else using?
I seem to grab whatever is in front of me at the shop. Any decent thinner will work fine. And you are right about being able to thin mk for light thin coats or even glazes and washes. The more it is thinned though the faster it dries..but the colors will not be as vibrant as they would be if not so thinned. Fool around and find what suits your style. Mk is hands down the best paint for vinyl toys and a hella lot more too. Very neat stuff.
I totally agree!  I only mentioned the alclad airbrush cleaner, since it seems to be a finer mix of chemicals than the other lacquer thinners I tried.  Especially notice a difference when using metallic colors like smoked which stipple a bit, going out my 2mm airbrush. also, when I got really close to my projects for details (1cm away) the other lacquer thinners seemed to re-liquefy the paint I already sprayed.  But, I like my PSI up high and live in dry colorado, which might be the only reason there is a difference for me.

I had never even considered comparing and contrasting thinners to try and find the one most suited to the painting conditions. That is pretty extreme, but it has a lot of merit now that I have considered it. Dangitt. Now I gotta grab some alclad and do some tests just for sport.
im pretty sure its been answered, but busy at work... lately i been doing the 2:1 ratio with clear, and its been coming out Hella Thick... anyway i can thin out the mixture? so it sprays nice from my airbrush and not all gunky? lol the first 2 times i cleared, it sprayed amazing, this past time, i just kept spraying the gunks, and they ended up drying decently... but i still am going to have to reclear them.... any help will be good :)
Yeah, it can be thinned and it'll spray nicely. If i get any thick stuff, I hit it with a hairdryer and the texture usually evens out :)
I'm curious, I have a decent size supply of powdered pearls...  I was wondering if you will ever offer a MK thinner, so I can use it as a medium to transfer my pearls...  I would also love something besides lacquer to thin with, so when I'm painting with a regular brush, I'm not wiping off paint layers as well.
