Monster Kolor Application Instructions

1. Wipe figure down 2-3 times with 70% rubbing alcohol THROUGHLY ! (even in the hard to reach areas)

2 Pour color directly into airbrush..For brighter color application shake up & spray white base as your first coat and then layer your colors on top of the white.

3. Layer your colors in sequence from light to dark. Example : White,Yellow,Orange,Blue, Purple, etc
Color can be poured back into bottle to eliminate waste

4. After Colors are applied now you can add specialty paints direct over paints. Example : Pearls,Flakes, etc

Note : the colors will appear dull in appearence up to this point. Dont worry this is correct.

5. Once all paint is applied, warm over figure with blow dryer to dry up any remaining areas in preperation for clear coating.

6. Clear Coat : Use in a well ventilated area! Must use an OSHA approved respirator while spraying. This is a 2 component system. It is mixed 2:1 ( 2 parts clear 1 part activator) . Mix small amount with mixing cup provided. For micro mixture please mix 1 part clear ½ part activator.

Usually, 1 coat of clear is all that’s required for the desired gloss level. If you chose to do 2 coats please allow 15 minutes wait time before 2nd coat of clear application.

7. Place figure in a dust free environment at 60 degrees or warmer for 24 hours to cure.

8. If your going to store Monster Kolor for a long period of time between uses I recommend placing the cap plugs back into the bottles to avoid air getting into the bottle and possibly evaporating the solvents out of the paint.

another thing i noticed... does the MK clear break down the properties of sofubi?

a crouching zag i did for my personal collection... i was gonna pull off the head to add another clear coat, and its usually easy to snap the zag in 2... well it was being a pain the ass, and when i got it to seperate, it actually ripped the lower half down the middle... something i have never seen happen to sofubi... i was wondering if MK maybe breaks down the components of the sofubi?

Nope. just bonds to it. Whenever I take apart vinyl toys I usually use a hairdryer to warm up the vinyl to soften it first.

Too much Acetone surely breaks down the vinyl though, I found that out the hard way.

What's the reccomended operating and storage temperature for MK?  It's starting to freeze at night, so I've been bringing my paint in for storage.  It's usually 40-50 with high humidity when I'm painting now.

I should probably bring my airbrush and compressor in at night too.

soaking it yes... im trying to remember... this might be the one i soaked! lol

i know i soaked a croucher, and a pocket... forgot about them... when i got to them they had increased in size! lol...

after letting them vent for 2 days, they shrunk back up... im wondering, it probably is the soaked one lol

Keep your MK in 60 degrees or warmer for the winter.

any of you experimental types ever add just a drop or two (little drops) to any mk c-thru before application? it's insanely eye-catchy in a weird way. just a drop and the metallic thingamajuggs spread out and are evenly dispersed throughout the color. it goes together like pb&j. found this one by accident from using cthru pink in a slightly dirty(w/silver paint) gun, and then after seeing the accidental result - i experimented with amounts of c-thru/silver till i could replicate the accident on purpose. the technique really gives some amazing finishes. the less silver added the better. one of the coolest aspects of mk is how well these paints play together when you fool around with them. anybody else stumble upon any off-beat combinations or techniques with this stuff? who abuses the moondust...and how do you choose to abuse it..thats the kinda stuff i'm after.

i have did the same thing! silver was in the gun and then i used cthru pink next and it was awesome!...

i play around with these sometimes, and they are just awesome!

That is a great mistake isn't it? I have also been using the cthru to tint or dye the clearcoat..still working the kinks out of it but it looks promising. Red clearcoat is twisted. The paint almost demands to be messed with.

That's the best part is mixing your own "stew"

I had to do some production toys recently that required me to custom mix  a very light army green c-thru color.  I took like 4 parts yellow c-thru to 1 part green c-thru and it was like pimp my army truck !

Another little thing I like to do on clear toys is spray my color change first then layer on my c thru colors. The color change looks like its a mile deep into the toy.

I really thank you guys for your support. I can't wait to paint alongside all of you someday!
