Application Guide
Monster Kolor Application Instructions
1. Wipe figure down 2-3 times with 70% rubbing alcohol THROUGHLY ! (even in the hard to reach areas)
2 Pour color directly into airbrush..For brighter color application shake up & spray white base as your first coat and then layer your colors on top of the white.
3. Layer your colors in sequence from light to dark. Example : White,Yellow,Orange,Blue, Purple,etc
Color can be poured back into bottle to eliminate waste
4. After Colors are applied now you can add specialty paints direct over paints. Example : Pearls,Flakes,etc
Note : the colors will appear dull in appearence up to this point. Dont worry this is correct.
5. Once all paint is applied, warm over figure with blow dryer to dry up any remaining areas in preperation for clear coating.
6. Clear Coat : Use in a well ventilated area! Must use an OSHA approved respirator while spraying. This is a 2 component system. It is mixed 2:1 ( 2 parts clear 1 part activator) . Mix small amount with mixing cup provided. For micro mixture please mix 1 part clear ½ part activator.
Usually, 1 coat of clear is all that’s required for the desired gloss level. If you chose to do 2 coats please allow 15 minutes wait time before 2nd coat of clear application.
7. Place figure in a dust free environment at 60 degrees or warmer for 24 hours to cure.
8. If your going to store Monster Kolor for a long period of time between uses I recommend placing the cap plugs back into the bottles to avoid air getting into the bottle and possibly evaporating the solvents out of the paint.

Hi Bob,
I use a 3M mask #7192 med or. #7193 large. Be sure to store in a ziplock bag when not in use. I will have these available in the MK store when I launch.

This is a great guide hopefully I'll be able to pick up some MK and give it a go, I'm just starting out with airbrushing so guides like this are so helpful to me!

Hey Matt, can I use a heat gun instead of a hair dryer? or will that make the paint react too fast? Also, what should I use to clean my airbrush with, while using this?

Yes, I use heat gun carefully. Lacquer thinner for airbrush clean up.

some questions from sb:
1) how long will it store before becoming thicker and needing the addition of a thinner agent?
2) it states that using the clear coat is mandatory....what if i don't want a clear coat? Will it just make the paint less vibrant or will it be tacky?
3) if the paint and clear coat is applied seperately to each part of the figure, will there be any problems with joint movements after its reassembled, just wondering if a clear coat affects the playability of the toy?

Whats SB ? Here are my responses below.
1.Depending on your humidity where you live the clear could become thicker after 90 days or so. This is just a mention in case you notice it spray differently from your airbrush. it is just a caution note. I use so much of it at the shop its never an issue. If a hobbyist uses it once in a while then you may see this.then yu would add a little thinner to get it to spray proper through an airbrush.
2. if you dont use clear coat the paint will be dullish in appearence it will not show off really any metallic or special effects. It does not stay tacky or anything.
3. Clear Coat does not effect the playability of the toy. 99.99% of my own work all of the articulation on any given figure works as it is intended. Most of the figues i paint are painted in the assembled state whenever possible for production reasons. If you take a figure apart to paint it thats fine you just need a heat gun or hot hair dryer to warm up the vinyl so it can be flexible enough to fit into its place. Here is a sample of a Onell figure i did with over 19 points of articulation

my painting is currently outsourced to other competent individuals :) but it would be vcolor, rit dye etc. so i'm looking forward to doing own stuff.

It varies. You have multiple pressures from like 10-30 psi. I generally use 30psi. If i'm getting in real close detail i will drop the pressure way down to avoid splattering
