glug glug ... sorry for the lack of posts .. well you can mostly find me on Tweeter ( maxtoyco ) but Matt told me to post some stuff I've been doing so here it is ;-)
I highly recommend his new VividTone line .. the Pink and Yellow are VERY bright ... my eyes tweek out a bit when I spray them, thats how Vivid they are .. make the normal yellow look dull, even though it's not dull ;-) well you know what i mean ... ;-)
anyhow, Monster Kolor continues to amaze me paint wise .. and since it's pre mixed so easy to use !
Been busy prepping for the 5th Anniversary Max Toy shows in Tokyo and San Francisco, plus Matt's In Living Kolor San Francisco Tour !! Man wait till you hear the line up of painters he's got coming ...! Make your plans and show up at Double Punch San Francisco on Saturday April 23rd, 2011 !!! Live painting with Monster Kolor on toys .. come and give it a try, for free ! Or watch your favorite customizer spray away !!! Gonna be Fun !!!!
Everything below is for sale at the Dragatomi show, Monster Party opens Jan 8th, 2011 in Sacramento, CA .. I'll be there plus Gatchbert too ( Lil Japan and DLUX also in the show )
phew .. back to work for me ....
the picture above was painted with acrylics on canvas board, but i did my final varnish with Monster Kolor Clear Coat ! Sprayed down nice and smooth, and when dry is a super glossy finish ;-) Nice ...

Permalink Reply by Dead Presidents on May 23, 2012 at 8:36pm Wow Seth. I am a bit very jealous and a bit very proud of you; yes, mainly a bit very proud. And then I see jealousey's face again. He looks a little like Sprout from the ho ho ho.. green giant commercials, except he has a big bundle of sticks tied to his back. Old jealousy fable and myth..I dig that stuff.
I'm really stoked for you though. Honest. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us with em. I think everybody knows how I feel about Mr. Nagata's work. As a collector, I m fond of maxtoy, and as a painter...come on dude, those sculpts are a joy to have as a canvas. Ya know, the first time I read his bio I almost seizured and passed out. That's one hella art, design, renaissance toy art man. Yes sir. I am stoked for you Seth. You do fine work. I think one of the finest aspects of what we do is how we all silently push each other; all working to push each piece a fraction better than the last. Working towards but never ever arriving at. I tell Matt often what I think of his paint, and the never ending colors. It is the good stuff for reals.
Hell ya Seth and Mark!! So happy to again see someone hoist the MK Jolly Roger high where it should be. - - I was just saying less than 2weeks ago on here, that some of the MK slinging artists on here are doing far better..no, waaaaaay better- work than was and is being done on many small run releases being put out. I meant this too. I get mean and lippy on coffee sometimes..we all have our crosses to bear, it's just that mine has little caster wheels and a herb vaporizer w/face-mask
Permalink Reply by mark nagata on May 24, 2012 at 12:21am Haha, Matt without Monster Kolor we'd have nothing to show !!! Nope Matt is too modest he's built MK and we are the better for it ! While I sing the glories of MK, it's really what each of us does with it .. and the many styles and color combos we all come up with that really is an inspiration. I encourage everyone to also step out of your comfort zone every once in awhile and try different things with MK and other paints, too ... to me it's the only way to grow as an artist / creator.

Mark: I'm in awe of your willingness to let other people play in your world. I'm incredibly greatful for the opportunity, and I hope I can live up to your trust. Your newest envelope-pushing stuff has been great too.
Daniel- Keep at it, it took me a bit to work up the courage to ask :-)

Cautiously optimistic about how they turned out. C-Thru over silver on all but the dark one, which is black under layers of copper and gold pearl, and the Vivitone one. Moondust on all of them, color-changes flakes on two. Subtle stripes on one of them.
Thanks again Mark, for your incredible generosity, they'll be on the way back tomorrow.
