Welcome to the world wide headquarters for Monster Kolor. This interactive community is a place for all who are interested in the custom painting of toys of all kinds. Feel free to look around, but I encourage you to join in.
I wish I bought an Airbrush years ago, I love this thing so much. I'm still getting the hang of it, but so far, I'm satisfied with my progress. Lesson 1) Less is more when layering. Lesson 2) Not all airbrush paints are Monster Kolor. Yikes. Tried some cheap stuff last night that went on like Elmers Glue.
This was my first full airbrush project. A Transformers Legends-size The Fallen. I hated the movie, but like the character from a pure design perspective. Looks Wayne Barlow-ey, and reminds me of the old Gobots monsters:
And he still transforms!
Looked like this originally.
Washed with rubbing alcohol, primed with MK black, then layers of MK silver, blue, and micrometallic blue that was my Neo-Hawaii runner up prize. Matt, is it the same blue that's in the Micro metallic kit? After the clear coat, I did some details with Reaper Pro paint copper, and a brush. They're kinda weak. But for a first timer, in one evening? Pretty happy with it.
More pictures in my Picasa folder.
I've been busy, waiting for the clear to cure on these:
All feedback welcome!
Permalink Reply by Seth Longmire on September 21, 2011 at 4:49pm Thanks! Getting them packed up to ship to ILK. I plan to send Starguts Armodoc, Rainbow Barf Chaos, Officer Mutant, the Alter-Spacemen, Fungobon, and the Aether Explorers. 11 pieces total.
Also I made a quickie store page on my blog, just the two remaining dice-heads for now (seen on the workbench in the top-o-page picture):

Max Toy Gold Glitter Dualos:
I'm tempted to just paint up the eyes and leave it. But does it need something more? I want more glitter to show, but It's already in danger of being overboard with the rub, I think.
Next up is Elegab Torionga:
The blue inkwash is acrylic, and on top of the clearcoat, it's going to come off. I like the robot bits, but the monster part just looks flat and boring. I think I may spray over it and start again.
Suggestions?

Permalink Reply by Seth Longmire on January 18, 2013 at 5:54pm Hi Matt! Glad to hear your over the fever! That sounds awful. The new resin line is making me want to try home casting, but I know I shouldn't over-reach.
I did manage to put a store together, and put the Micro-Negora, and one Grody up for sale. I have no idea if it's working correctly, no takers yet:
