Been working on this new sculpt and now he is done! So what do you guys think? I would love to hear some feedback, also I'm looking to produce this in either resin or vinyl! Personally I think this figure is will not be able to be made into resin, but I have no experience casting resin at all, so i'm gonna have the guys at half bad toyz take a look at it and see what they say!
Also I've been hearing about this place veracious vinyl! anyone have any info on them??
I will more than likely have to do a kickstarter for this, I just don't have the funds to back this myself! sound off, let me hear your opinions, would you back this project on kickstarter?

Permalink Reply by Dead Presidents on May 21, 2011 at 3:25pm I think the sculpt is cool. I notice somewhat of a trend as of late. Resin & Kickstarter. With the huge cost of JP vinyl production I can relate to a lot of folks going the resin route. I know resin has been around for ages I see a lot of people doing DIY resin. Some I like and well, some I don't like.
However, depending on the project your unit cost for vinyl is much cheaper the resin in some cases. Your upfront costs for vinyl are much higher I believe.
I see and hear a lot of good thing from the half bad toys crew. Other toy companies using production based resin pieces is Erick Scrarecrow, Itokin Park, Onell Designs Paul Kaiju just to name a few.
Kickstarter seems to be growing in popularity. I know of a lot of projects that have been funded through it. (mostly not toy related) .I watch a ton that don't.
My opinion on this project is all good. I hope some others leave comments. I think we get like 1-2000 page views a day so plenty of lurkers keeping an eye on things around here :) (join up lurker peeps)
This is so rad, on so many levels. Great job man really. We are totally up for helping you get this out there to the community. I will see you soon to talk about it!

Permalink Reply by Josh Barton on May 22, 2011 at 5:33pm Hey everyone
After looking over the sculpt over and over again, I was becoming unhappy with the outcome. I handed the sculpt over to my buddy NemO and this is whjat he came up with so far ( sorry for the link, having problems posting pics =[ )

I decided to go resin with the figure! Stay tuned for more progress as this has only just begun and I can't wait to see what NemO has up his sleeves. Also at the bottom of the post NemO showed me a new sculpt he is working on
guys you can check out NemO's site here at http://nemossculpturestudio.blogspot.com
Permalink Reply by Josh Barton on May 26, 2011 at 5:44pm I like your's a lot more. His seems like a watered down version of what you were doing. And watered down just by mushing the details. Maybe you should resculpt it in another medium for a fresher look. Sculpey tends to make everything look like ass. Check out some apoxie sculpt or straight up clay.
