Hey Everyone

Been working on this new sculpt and now he is done! So what do you guys think? I would love to hear some feedback, also I'm looking to produce this in either resin or vinyl! Personally I think this figure is will not be able to be made into resin, but I have no experience casting resin at all, so i'm gonna have the guys at half bad toyz take a look at it and see what they say!

Also I've been hearing about this place veracious vinyl! anyone have any info on them??

I will more than likely have to do a kickstarter for this, I just don't have the funds to back this myself! sound off, let me hear your opinions, would you back this project on kickstarter?

I think the sculpt is cool. I notice somewhat of a trend as of late. Resin & Kickstarter. With the huge cost of JP vinyl production I can relate to a lot of folks going the resin route. I know resin has been around for ages I see a lot of people doing DIY resin. Some I like and well, some I don't like.

However, depending on the project your unit cost for vinyl is much cheaper the resin in some cases. Your upfront costs for vinyl are much higher I believe.

I see and hear a lot of good thing from the half bad toys crew.  Other toy companies using production based resin pieces is Erick Scrarecrow, Itokin Park, Onell Designs Paul Kaiju just to name a few.

Kickstarter seems to be growing in popularity. I know of a lot of projects that have been funded through it. (mostly not toy related) .I watch a ton that don't.

My opinion on this project is all good. I hope some others leave comments. I think we get like 1-2000 page views a day so plenty of lurkers keeping an eye on things around here :) (join up lurker peeps)

This is so rad, on so many levels. Great job man really. We are totally up for helping you get this out there to the community. I will see you soon to talk about it!

That's a really interesting sculpt, sir. Would be a challenge to mold. On a side note, it looks like you have the same problems with sculpey I do. It flakes when sculpting into it or cutting. Lately I've experimented with mixing different types of sculpey. Mostly white soft with the firm grey. It takes sculpting a bit better without flaking to pieces.

really dope Osiris. Man thats a sick beast. unfortunately I'm broke so i can't help with backing. I don't know if i missed how big this thing is. but nice work. the MK crew is gonna take this shet over!

Osiris, When the kickstarter launches post the info on the events sections too.
Thanks guy for all the feedback, keep em coming!
I've been staring at the sculpt looking it over, and there
Are some things I need to change and some more
cleanup need to be done!

If I go the kickstarter route it will be o get this produces in vinyl,
But I think I'm gonna try to see getting this done in resin
if it's too complex to do in resin, then I'll go vinyl

I'll post up the revisions I'm working on and also will post info if
I go the kickstarter route!! :)

What is this 'kickstarter' thing?

Hey everyone

After looking over the sculpt over and over again, I was becoming unhappy with the outcome. I handed the sculpt over to my buddy NemO and this is whjat he came up with so far ( sorry for the link, having problems posting pics =[ )

I decided to go resin with the figure! Stay tuned for more progress as this has only just begun and I can't wait to see what NemO has up his sleeves. Also at the bottom of the post NemO showed me a new sculpt he is working on

guys you can check out NemO's site here at http://nemossculpturestudio.blogspot.com

I like your's a lot more. His seems like a watered down version of what you were doing. And watered down just by mushing the details. Maybe you should resculpt it in another medium for a fresher look. Sculpey tends to make everything look like ass. Check out some apoxie sculpt or straight up clay.
Oh the sculpt isn't done yet! NemO still has some a
Stuff to smooth out and then put in all the details

the original sculpt I did had way too many undercuts
That would have made it very difficult to cast in resin

When NemO is done with the re-sculpt, it will be able
To be cast in a one part mold :)

Looking cool!  It's definitely a neat concept, but I like the sort of silly slant to it.  The sharper/more refined details on the Nemo version are good too, and I would think a production sculpt lies somewhere in the middle.  I really like all of that gross organ-ey stuff behind the head on yours.

Looking forward to seeing the detailing on the Nemo sculpt!!

Im with Ben on this! I would like to see a blend of the two sculpts, your first one has something unique that I liked :)

Also try FIRM sculpey (grey) ;)
