Hey Everyone

Been working on this new sculpt and now he is done! So what do you guys think? I would love to hear some feedback, also I'm looking to produce this in either resin or vinyl! Personally I think this figure is will not be able to be made into resin, but I have no experience casting resin at all, so i'm gonna have the guys at half bad toyz take a look at it and see what they say!

Also I've been hearing about this place veracious vinyl! anyone have any info on them??

I will more than likely have to do a kickstarter for this, I just don't have the funds to back this myself! sound off, let me hear your opinions, would you back this project on kickstarter?

I really, really like this. How big is it? Can you give me dimensions please?

I'd love to see it in resin. The problems I see straight off with resin casting are the horns and the pipe-like tentacles. If these were removable in a peg/hole system that could be assembled by the consumer, it should work alright in resin. The big thing with resin casting (I'm a novice manufacturer and not the actual caster) is that the "flow lines" need to do in the same direction for easier cast and the horns go opposite of most other things as far as I can tell.

As for kickstarter... a popular choice... another option might be to allow me to use this in my Kaiju Kaos miniatures game and I can fund the resin casting in trade for use of the creature. Just a thought. ;)

FYI: I commented before I read all the comments and updates. My ideas and offer still stand. It appears NemO has agreed the pipe/tentacles should be in holes like I commented... at least from those WIP pix. I like your pointed horns better. Keep us posted.

I think what's happening here is just that to do this guy justice is going to be way more of an ordeal than makes sense for a first resin outing.  Unless the design is heavily simplified or at least optimized for resin you are looking at some wonky mold geometry and just a ton of separate molds to make some of those parts, and then you've got to assemble all these figures.  I would try and start out with something slightly stripped down so you can pump them out without much headache while you test the market and get a feel for the process.  I have two resin figures so far, and I know that if I could change things I would have made the first figure simpler.

hey everyone

thanks for the feedback! I have the finished sculpt and let me tell you it's nothing short of amazing! I decided to ditch the pipes coming out the back, would of been to much trouble to cast. I would love to show you guys pics, but i can't not until me and nemo launch our company! so stay tuned we should be launching in a few months, maybe sooner!

I will tell you guys this, nemo was able to packed a ton of detail into the sculpt and fix things so the SJD will be able to be cast in a one part mold!

so keep your eyes peeled for Bad Applez Inc. I'll post up more info as soon as it is available!! =]

A one-piece mold sounds promising.
